Logo Design

Defined as the art of capturing the essence of a business, its products or services in a memorable graphic form. Generally a mix of text and graphic elements.

Digital Art

Mouse replaces pencil. Computer generated illustration or
graphics. Photo manipulation and retouching fall into this section. A little more than blotting out the ‘red eye’, but that’s about where it starts.

Photography

Analog (film based) and digital photography go hand in hand with the various requirements, as to resolution and output size.
Digital photography has made a huge impact on the standards accepted in market place. Lo-resolution images 72 pixels per inch have their place, but it should be limited to web sites. In the printed form, images must be a minimum of 300 pixels per inch resolution at the actual reproduction size. Very often, a better result will be achieved by scanning a conventional slide or transparency on high-end drum scanning equipment and upsizing the image in our software. A commercial studio, with professional lighting, quality art direction and composition, professional models and talent are the key features that set photography apart from great photography.

WWW Design

In the electronic media, many classic design elements are consistent in their effectiveness. Colors are often limited, image crispness and detail can suffer, but typically a web site has to be functional, appealing and memorable, much the same as a brochure.

John Wayne Design works along side Mongrel Web in respect to WWW Designs.

Packaging

Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Neither, the ‘egg carton’ obviously! How else would the chicken know where to store the eggs?
That’s stupid! But if you have eggs and you need to sell them effectively, then you need a ‘carton’… or better known as the packaging or point of sale. That’s where we come in. We take your ‘egg’ and design the ‘carton’ to suit it. Emblazon it with the right balance of ‘words and pictures’, and presto… you’re on your way to selling your wares to the world.

Brochures

A brochure is the structure that holds together the “words and the pictures”…(and of course the “fine lines”). Brochures come in every conceivable shape and size, (and even a few we haven’t conceived of yet)

Copy Writing

Words and pictures… it is said ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’. It is also said, ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’. We believe a correct balance should be achieved between both these design elements, words and pictures. It’s a “fine line”… (Then again “fine lines” too can be considered design elements, but that’s another story.)

Press Ads

Newspaper and magazine advertising ‘off the page’. Both colour and black and white ads can be very effective. Page cost, circulation and distribution are key factors when assessing the suitability and ‘reach’ of a particular publication for your product or service. Yellow pages advertising is an extension of this field, we pride ourselves, on having produced very responsive YP ads for many of our clients.

Signage

Less is more! Be seen, be remembered. Signage can be subtle or bold. Limited to the individual site or application. Signage concepts will be tailored to suit the design brief and are guaranteed to capitalize on the individual situation. Be careful, as ultra clever and what might seem to be ‘Award winning’ signage, may have a very short shelf life. Sometimes the initial shock value generated by an in-your-face billboard may not last the distance of the intended campaign. Subtle messages can sometimes ‘burn-in’ to the memory with greater effectiveness. Instead of the ‘Electro Shock Treatment’ style of signage, the steady drip-drip effect of the ‘Chinese Water Torture’ system has it’s merits too! To each his own. I like a bit of both…

Printing

The tail end of all the hard work and the design processes, it involves putting the words and pictures “to bed”! Printing has advanced enormously in recent years. Colour printing has become very affordable, even in relatively short runs. We will assist you with obtaining the correct printing connections to suit your project. Print management is available, should you require our monitoring and control through to hand over.

NEW FIELDS WE HAVE EXTENDED INTO

CD-DVD

Archival of both digital art and data has been revolutionized by way of these five inch plastic coasters known as CD and DVD’s. Now the production and distribution of your story, product or service is closer than you think.
