or visual needs to publicize your business or activities.

John Wayne Design controls every step of the process, from creative
drafts through to production and delivery.
Working in the printed and electronic disciplines, this translates into
simple projects such as logo design, annual reports, brochures, and
press advertisements, through to billboards and point of sale tools,
even the signage of a racing car or corporate jet.
Drawing on 32 year’s experience, John Wayne Design has the ability
to co-ordinate and meet any publicity challenge - at the same time ensuring
that quality, price and deadlines remain paramount considerations.
Modern technology, based on traditional graphic arts values, provides
the platform for an enormous variety of skills and production methods.
Background
John Wayne,
born in Sydney, educated in both in Sydney and on the Gold Coast, left
school to take up a position with pioneering advertising agency Standfast-White
in '74. Although employed as a junior, John's hobby of photography and
attitude toward learning the graphic arts craft soon lead to a much
greater involvement in the creative and production side of the business.
Graphic art was still produced through the hot metal process at this
time, but the introduction of photo typesetting techniques was quickly
taken on board and mastered.
John Wayne joined Ross Standfast as Art Director of Dindy Marketing,
designing and producing direct mail campaigns for the sale of blank
audio and then later video cassettes which set new Australia Post records
for both the dispatch of articles and response nationwide. In just three
years a database of 40,000 satisfied customers had been established
when the business was transferred to Sydney and purchased by a multinational
mail order company.
Following a short period investigating industry trends in metropolitan
capitals, John returned to the Gold Coast to begin an 11 year association
with Bundall Printing, one of the prime forces in offset printing and
the conduit for many of today’s most successful public attractions
and institutions.
Since 1991 after an ownership change at Bundall Printing, John has run
his own design studios, building on a proud reputation established in
the printing industry in the 80's. Continuing to grow and expand services
with advances of new technology.
Experience
Whilst
the art director and the company’s link between its clients and
its printing presses, John Wayne’s graphic design skills are evident
in much of the literature which has served to establish the credibility
and success of the following Gold Coast icons:
Sanctuary
Cove Resort
The Southport School
Bond Group & Bond University
Quality Inns Group of Companies
Resort Condominiums International
Neumann Industries
Mineral Deposits Limited
For the
last five years of his relationship with Bundall Printing, John Wayne
serviced both the printing company’s clients and his own expanding
list of external clients.
In 1987 John Wayne created Designomite, to serve a growing client base
which demanded shorter deadlines and access to the latest developments
in production techniques and design services.
As a result of market research, Designomite began offering a top drawer
service to selected clients whose schedules demanded extremely short
turn-arounds, both in the pre-press and production stages. This, along
with other innovative client-based initiatives, cemented their position
as a deliverer of quality services and material in an increasingly competitive
marketplace.
John resisted the temptation to join the desktop publishing miracle
until they felt that technology and end-user effectiveness had reached
a par with contemporary graphic design methods. A long relationship
with specialist companies serving the printing and publicity industries
continued to stand John in good stead until 1992, when the business
purchased its first Macintosh graphic design system and joined the computer
revolution.
Since then,
the business has undergone several major technology upgrades and eight
complete Apple system revisions. John Wayne Design possesses the power
and in-house capacity to handle almost any task, ensuring on the spot
control of a client’s project at every step of the process.
Using state of the art software and technology provides virtually unlimited
freedom of design and artistic affect. Until recently John Wayne Design
Studio was located in the MWA Viewfinder building in Olympic Circuit
and still maintains has a great connection with largest commercial photographic
studio on the Gold Coast (Murray Waite & Associates), and has direct
access to an international image library of 90,000 slides within the
Viewfinder Library also located in his building. This relationship with
the studio adds to the power and strengths JWD has to offer clients
with the excellent working relationships John has with the photographers
he can access to high end drum scanners and the drive-in studio virtually
round the clock.
John is an accomplished illustrator, cartoonist and photographer, but
chooses to field these tasks to a wider group of specialist, opting
to direct and control quality more so than actually produce the final
graphics.
In order to keep abreast of any new products in the marketplace, John
regularly attend seminars and workshops where the latest developments
in the publishing industry are explained, these include very advanced
technology dealing with the output of high resolution colour media,
seminars dealing with upgrades of computer programs, and the latest
trends in direct marketing.
Basing his operation almost wholly on the Gold Coast, John Wayne has
built a reputation as a reliable and honest business man who can make
promises that he can deliver, ensuring quality and service to each and
every client large and small.
John
Wayne Design manages every phase of development, from the creation of
initial drafts, copy writing, photographic direction and selection of
printer or audio-visual studio, through to delivery of the finished
article.
It is this hands-on approach and dedication to ensuring the smooth flow
of every project’s evolution that gives John Wayne Design the
personalised edge in the communication industry.
Apart from its array of high end Macintosh computers, the business also
has the facility to output finished art to all printers’ specifications,
giving John Wayne Design the ability to provide a total pre-press service
in house.
For years consistently preparing quality media and print production
for a huge array of clients, John and his team are highly respected
in the industry and are afforded an outstanding return of service from
suppliers and outsourced professionals, allowing John Wayne Design to
deliver an excellent product at realistic deadlines.
Again, dedicated high end Apple Mac work stations and total control
at every step means deadlines are met, prices are held and the highest
possible level of quality results.
